Giant ditch Faith, fit Reign with a chain guide and turn STP into a singlespeed for 2013
Giant have leaked details of their 2013 range, and the big news on the ‘gravity’ front is that they’ve quietly dropped the Faith freeride bike. We can see why – the Glory is now light and flickable, not the behemoth of old, and Giant’s all-mountain bikes can take a fair bit of punishment, so there’s no longer a need for it.
Elsewhere, it’s mainly a case of new graphics and paintjobs, though the STP hardtail has had a bit of a change of direction. It’s now singlespeed rather than geared and comes with a 73mm BB and three-piece chromoly cranks, aiming it squarely at dirt jumpers rather than the four-cross/playbike crowd.
The Reign and Reign X frames look unchanged. There’s one great bit of news for Reign fans, though – the Reign 0 and Reign 1 (but not the cheaper Reign 2) now come with clutch-equipped rear mechs and MRP 2X chain guides, sorting out the chain retention issues of old.
