No Enduro World Cup in 2013 – but there will be an Enduro World Series

The UCI may have ditched plans for a gravity enduro World Cup series in 2013 but the men in blazers haven’t managed to stop the inexorable rise of this exciting new discipline! Today saw the unveiling of a new Enduro World Series.

It’s been set up by former UCI technical delegate Chris Ball, who’s joined forces with the organisers of Crankworx, the Coupe de France Enduro VTT and Italy’s SuperEnduro series. They’ve formed a new organisation called the Enduro Mountain Bike Association.

The debut series will be made up of seven races in Italy, France and North America, many of them held alongside existing mountain bike events. Here’s the full schedule:

  • May 18-19: Punta Ala, Italy (Superenduro PRO)
  • June 29-30: Val d’Allos, France (Enduro Series)
  • July 6-7: Les 2 Alpes, France (Crankworx Les 2 Alpes)
  • July 27-28: Winter Park, USA (Colorado Freeride Festival)
  • August 10-11: Whistler, Canada (Crankworx Whistler)
  • August 24-25: Val d’Isere, France (Enduro Des Nations)
  • October 19-20: Finale Ligure, Italy (Superenduro PRO)

There’s no word yet on the format of the racing, which currently differs from country to country. Registration will open in early 2013. We can’t wait to find out more!
