Red Bull Ramparanoia – the closest we’re going to get to BMX riding on the moon!
Ten BMXers from across the globe were invited to Argentina last week for the very first Red Bull Ramparanoia. Held on the Campo de Piedra Pomez pumice field at 4,000m above sea level, this was a freestyle competition like no other. The area’s known for its moon-like landscape – turns out it’s also nature’s most perfectly formed BMX park, covered with kickers, quarterpipes and transfers of all shapes and sizes formed from volcanic rock
Riders were given a day to acclimatise to the altitiude and heat, and then had to session four different obstacles where they judged each other on style, difficulty and execution. The overall winner was Chain Reaction Cycles rider Ben Hennon, with Daniel Dhers taking the Best Trick Award. Feast your eyes on the video and photos below…
