Shimano SLX M675 disc brake – Best bikes and gear of 2012

We all like a bit of a moan about the cost of high-end bike bits but if you’re patient, the technology soon trickles down to lower pricepoints. Here’s a case in point: the latest Shimano SLX M675 disc brake, which was a unanimous choice for our ‘Best bikes and gear of 2012’ wishlist.

Its consistent, powerful performance even on long descents would be impressive at any price. And it’s all thanks to the new lever design, finned pads and three-layer Ice Tech rotors originally introduced on XTR. Thanks big spenders, for soaking up the development costs and helping us get this great trail brake at a bargain price!

Why we like it:

  • Excellent power and reliability
  • Easy syringe-based bleeding
  • Top value for money

RRP: US$140 / £95 (calliper and lever, no rotor)
