Will 2013 be the year Sam Hill bounces back? Injury-hit downhill star wins first Aussie national

It was clear 2012 wasn’t going to be Sam Hill‘s year when the five-time downhill world champ’s young protege Troy Brosnan beat him to the win in the Australian national champs and national series. Bet there were some awkward silences in the Monster Energy-Specialized pits! Fast forward a year and Sam’s on a new team, a new bike and the top of the podium at the opening Subaru Gravity Cup round.

Okay, so Troy didn’t race (second went to Chris Kovarik and third to Connor Fearon), but it’s great to see Sam back firing on all cylinders and up to speed on his new Nukeproof Pulse. He quietly racked up a fifth place finish in the World Cup series last year – can he break into the top three in 2013? We wouldn’t bet against it… Check him out in action at the first Aussie national below.
