In the flesh: Fox Rampage Pro Carbon helmet
We loved the look of the new Fox Rampage Pro Carbon when it was launched last month and now we’ve been able to get up close and personal with it, we’re not disappointed! It’s less moto-looking than the old V3R Carbon, and a bit lighter on the scales too. But it’s venting and comfort where things have really been stepped up. Check out the photos to find out more.

The old V3R Carbon was a great lid, but it was quite bulky. The new Pro Carbon’s a lot sleeker

At 1,145g it’s about 30g lighter than the V3R and in the same ballpark as the Troy Lee Designs D3

There are lighter lids out there but your head’s not a place to skimp on protection

With a total of 17 air intakes, channels and exhaust ports, overheating shouldn’t be an issue

All the vents are lined with mesh to keep insects and crud out

Areas of visible carbon weave add shopfloor appeal

The all-important safety sticker! The Rampage Pro Carbon meets the EU CE EN1078 standard and is CPSC certified too

Fox have paid a lot of attention to comfort as well, with a new sweat-wicking liner and 3D-moulded cheek pads

With two shell sizes and three different liners, there should be a Rampage Pro Carbon to fit every noggin

Josh Bryceland has been wearing a prototype Rampage Pro Carbon since last summer’s Val di Sole World Cup. His verdict? “I used to always wear a moto helmet because I’ve had quite a lot of concussions, but this is perfect”
The Rampage Pro Carbon costs US$425.95 / £320. More info at www.foxhead.com / www.foxeurope.com.
